KBS CLINICAL TERMINOLOGY SERVICES

KBS Clinical Terminology Standards: We deliver terminology services for Knowledge-Based Systems (KBS) that include matching, standardization, and terminology modeling across multiple platforms. These services support Joint Longitudinal Viewer (JLV) matching, CHDR mapping, and broader VHA and DoD data harmonization. CHDR enables VA and DoD to share medication data for drug interaction checks in pharmacy systems. To make this possible, clinical experts must align each agency’s medication and allergy data to federal standards. They map Allergy Reactants, Reactions, and Medications to RxNorm, SNOMED-CT, and UMLS to ensure accurate Clinical Decision Support (CDS). JPSys provides expert clinicians and informaticists to complete these mappings and maintain compliance with national standards. As a result, we strengthen cross-agency interoperability and support safe, standardized care for veterans and active-duty service members.
