PMO IOC
PMO-IOC Data Quality: A five-year effort for the VHA VHIE office for Clinical Data Quality Improvement for interoperability (Data Exchange) and Clinical Decision Support. We perform strategic planning, UAT work, C-CDA requirements analysis, and clinical data quality analysis and improvement services for the Joint DoD - VA Health Information Exchange (JHIE). We examine incoming and outgoing data in JHIE to determine if data is being delivered and interpreted accurately between the VHA, Cerner Millennium, DoD, and community provider partners.
The VA required professional and technical services to maintain Initial Operating Capacity (PMO-IOC) efforts in special projects with multiple VA Legacy Systems. This required program management with experienced clinical informatics subject matter expertise to maintain Health Practice Pattern (HPP) projects and to perform functionality tests of VA products and software, such as CPRS version releases and configuration work to support Clinical Process Modules. For each product tested, JPSys reported on the facts and evidence collected, attesting that the products were safe for national implementation. Staff supported sites with any implementation needs, including remote access to VistA systems to create and import clinical reminders, order sets, Clinical Decision Support templates and health factors.
We support the Pain Management, Opioid Safety and PDMP (PMOP) Office and other VHA stakeholders to champion safe prescribing of controlled substances to Veterans. State prescription drug monitoring programs (PDMP) are a valuable tool for healthcare providers to track controlled substance prescriptions. Querying these databases is an important component of clinical decision making and risk mitigation when prescribing controlled substances. For this project we are collaborating with external PDMP registries to facilitate the sharing of PDMP data, supporting research initiatives, assisting the VHA PDMP transition from legacy systems, and establishing, streamlining, and updating PDMP-related VHA policies and guidelines.
