With our in depth knowledge of healthcare IT legislation, enterprise strategy, healthcare policy, data standards, interoperability and Health Information Exchanges, we help our clients understand how upcoming legislation will impact their operations and current policies. As requested we can prepare executive briefings, presentations, or webinars to inform staff on legislation such as the 21st Century Cures Act. The ONC Cures Act Final Rule has implemented sweeping interoperability requirements that have empowered Patients. Providers now need to be able to send data to patient mobile devices and many do not have a plan to do that. Data standards and terminology mapping are key to making that happen.
For commercial hospitals, the morning after a merger or acquisition comes with a rude awakening! Te IT staff informs the C-suite that the new hospital's EHR systems can't talk to their existing EHR systems. This happens even though they are the same vendor's software system! That is to say that one Epic or Cerner system can't talk to another one of the exact same type. One cause of this problem is the underlying local clinical terminologies which are coded in different ways. Another problem is that patients end up having multiple ID numbers among the systems.
We can create an interoperability road map to get your EHR systems on speaking terms again.
