VA Standards and Interoperability: Healthcare General Standards
For the VHA, we provide subject matter experts for the development of international HL7 and other standards for the exchange of clinical healthcare data. We concentrate on the current business and IT issues of interest to our clients to ensure that their EHR systems are in compliance with today's and tomorrow's international healthcare standards requirements. We also provide subject matter expertise on what legislative issues are of concern to our clients future data architecture requirements. Concerns such a s qualifying for Meaningful Use stages, security and privacy requirements for HIPAA.
We provide expertise to the S&I General Standards Program in the areas of standards development, standards implementation, and strategic initiatives. We hold leading roles in various SDOs (Standard Development Organization), such as HL7, NCPDP, and OMG/HSSP. Bring VHA technical requirement to the implementation of HL7 and introduce UML modeling into NCPDP. Actively engaged in Federal and interagency initiatives by launching the Federal Health Information Model (FHLM) initiatives, etc. Served as liaison between S&I and VHA Business Architecture program and participate in a myriad of architectural forums.
